UNITE HERE HEALTH’s new plan

Starting November 1st, significant healthcare plan changes have begun for our members.

As healthcare costs rise, we are taking steps to make sure we can keep great health insurance into the future without sacrificing raises.  These changes will affect all members in UNITE HERE HEALTH plans (except River Boat Casino workers).

What do you need to know about the changes?

1.  We are going into a more selective network in Blue Cross Blue Shield, so some hospitals and doctors will no longer have coverage.  We all have to learn to check first to make sure a doctor is in the network.

2.  We are moving away from Thorek as our preferred provider.  We will now have the Presence Health System and its 13 hospitals and 1,400 doctors with little or no co-pays and 100% coverage. Thorek will remain in the network but will have higher co-pays.

As we work hard to implement these changes, please be aware that UNITE HERE Health has been receiving an unusually large amount of calls throughout this transition.

The best times to call the Fund are:

Wednesdays    between 8:30 and 11:30am

Thursdays          between 3:00pm and 5pm

Fridays                between 8:30am and 11:00am

       also              between 1:30pm and 5:00pm
